Welcome to my first ever blog! This blog will give you an insight into my training towards The Stockholm Marathon 2019 & any races I take part in along the way. I hope you find it useful and a good read.
I'll start by jumping right in with....
WHY A MARATHON?
1) The marathon distance is still something that eludes me. I find it very physically challenging, but mentally too. I feel I can cope better over the 5/10k distances and sometimes a half marathon, but to try run faster in marathon is something I find extremely hard! I love the challenge.
2) Just like I aim to inspire my clients and others around me (hopefully I do!), I also know I'll be inspired along the way too. I have huge respect and gain a lot of inspiration for anyone who runs a marathon, especially those who are doing it for a charity close to their hearts & for those who are aiming to complete their first ever marathon, regardless of their fitness levels, shape & size, or the time they are aiming for, its simply amazing and keeps me motivated more than you know! I always think that the most inspiring person is the one overcoming a fear of doing something, not the one whos are already excellent at it.
3) The bling! Who doesn't love a good finishers medal. However, I am a sucker for a good goody bag containing a local beer!
4) Running a marathon seems to give me a huge sense of achievement. All events do that too but there seems to be something very special about running a marathon. I don't know why, probably just bonkers?!
5) Its very exciting! Try standing on the start line of a marathon and not be excited. I get excited just thinking about lining up at the start line, hopefully in a well-trained, injury free state. I think anyone that can make the start line of a marathon is already a winner!
Keep your eyes peeled for further blogs and feel free to give me a message if you wish for me to cover any certain topics.
